Essential cookies and browser storage support sign-in, security and the story features you request. Optional website analytics stays off until you accept it. You can accept or reject optional analytics without changing access to accounts, stories or purchased features.

These choices belong to this browser, not your family account. We remember acceptance or rejection for 180 days, then ask again. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer or parent settings. Withdrawing after analytics has loaded reloads the current page to stop it. Clearing browser storage also clears this choice. If your browser prevents us from saving the choice, optional analytics stays off.

Essential cookies and storage

Local storage remains on your browser until removed unless a duration is stated below. Session storage normally ends when the tab closes; some browsers restore it when restoring a session. Browser controls can remove or block storage, but blocking essential storage can prevent sign-in, saving preferences or continuing a story.

• Family sign-in · Storywithkido

  A secure, HTTP-only session cookie (__Host-kido_session) identifies an adult’s signed-in session. It lasts up to 7 days and is cleared on sign-out. It is not available to page scripts.

• Admin security and draft recovery · Storywithkido

  Admin sign-in tokens use tab session storage; newly issued tokens expire after 8 hours. A secure, HTTP-only asset-access cookie (storywithme_asset_access) lasts up to 1 hour, bounded by the admin session. The editor also uses local storage for draft backups and interface preferences. These tools apply to authorized staff, not children’s reading accounts.

• Reading progress · Storywithkido

  Local storage remembers a story version, page route, playback position, language and view so you can continue where you stopped. It has no automatic browser-storage expiry. Signed-in reading progress can also be saved to your account; see the privacy policy.

• Requested preferences · Storywithkido

  Tab session storage remembers the selected child profile. Local storage remembers supported playback and interface preferences, including the Ask silence setting. Your account’s default story language is stored on our server.

• Parent screen lock · Storywithkido

  For signed-in families, tab storage holds the family identifier, PIN revision and lock state. The PIN hash is kept on our server and is never returned to the browser. Guest story readers use a temporary salted PIN hash in tab storage. This lock protects story controls, not device or browser controls.

• Cookie choices · Storywithkido

  Local storage (kido:cookie-consent) remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics, the policy version and the choice time. It expires after 180 days and contains no child photo or profile information.

Optional website analytics

After acceptance, our landing page loads Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits, page views and broad browser, device, country and referral information. This analytics tool does not use third-party cookies or track visits across different websites. It derives a visitor hash from request information; that hash is discarded after 24 hours. This is not a promise that historical aggregate reports are deleted after 24 hours. We remove query strings and fragments from page URLs before analytics events are sent.

We do not load this optional analytics tool in the family dashboard, admin editor or story reader. We do not use advertising pixels or send child photos, questions or profile details as analytics events. See Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy information for its processing details.

Payments and other choices

Lemon Squeezy handles checkout on its own payment pages. Its storage and privacy choices are governed by its privacy policy. Our cookie choice does not replace separate parent or guardian consent for child photos, browser microphone permission or newsletter opt-in.
