FOR THE GROWN-UPS

Privacy policy

A clear account of the information used to provide Storywithkido, and the choices available to parents.

Last updated: 5 October 2026

Who we are and how to reach us

Storywithkido provides digital stories and optional story features for families at storywithkido.com. For privacy questions, access requests, corrections, or deletion requests, contact support@storywithkido.com.

Parents manage family accounts

Accounts are for adults. Children do not need an email address or their own login. An adult manages child profiles and supervises optional photo and microphone features. Please do not include a child’s full legal name, address, school, or other sensitive information in a profile or question.

Information we collect

How we use information

We use this information to provide accounts and stories, remember reading progress, generate requested pictures or answers, deliver account emails, manage billing, prevent misuse, resolve support issues, and send newsletters to people who opt in. We do not sell child photos or profile information or use them for targeted advertising.

Service providers

Hosting and storage providers process information to operate the service. Vercel hosts the website and stores newsletter records; Hostinger hosts the application API and private story files. Lemon Squeezy processes payments and subscriptions. Google email services deliver account and support emails.

When you request an AI feature, the information needed for that request is sent to the configured processing providers. These can include Google or OpenAI through Vercel AI Gateway for image or text generation, and ElevenLabs or other configured speech services for transcription and audio. A personalization request can send the uploaded reference photo to an image provider. An Ask request can send a recording or transcript and relevant story context to speech and text providers. Their processing and retention are governed by their service terms; please avoid including unnecessary personal information.

Storage and retention

Account records, child profiles, reading progress, uploaded photos, and generated pictures remain in our active storage while needed to provide your account, unless you delete supported data or request deletion. Photos are private and are not published in the story library. Ask question and answer text is held in the running conversation service; recordings and answer audio may be saved temporarily for processing and troubleshooting. Temporary audio cleanup is configured on the service, rather than guaranteed to occur immediately when you close a story.

Newsletter addresses are retained while subscribed. Unsubscribing removes the email address from the active newsletter record and leaves a hashed suppression record to help prevent accidental mailings. Previous waitlist signups retain their original launch-update purpose and are not automatically enrolled in the newsletter. Billing, security, support, and backup records may remain where needed for accounting, disputes, abuse prevention, or recovery. Deletion from active storage does not guarantee immediate removal from provider systems or backups.

Your choices and children’s information

You can edit or delete child profiles in the parent dashboard, and remove a child photo and its saved personalized pictures. Deleting a child profile also removes its saved reading progress and personalization data from active storage. You can enjoy original stories without uploading a photo or using a microphone.

To request a copy, correction, or deletion of account or conversation information, withdraw photo consent, or report information submitted without appropriate adult permission, contact support@storywithkido.com. We may ask you to verify account ownership before acting. You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails here, or contact support. Unsubscribing does not stop necessary account, security, or billing emails.

Cookies, analytics, and international processing

The app uses session cookies and browser storage for sign-in, security, and preferences. For signed-in families, the optional parent screen lock uses a securely hashed family PIN stored on our server. Setting or resetting it requires the account password; the old PIN is not required. We verify the current PIN when unlocking and never return its hash to the browser. The browser tab stores only the family identifier, PIN revision, and lock state. Guest sample readers use a temporary salted PIN hash stored only in that tab. This protects the story page’s controls, not device buttons or browser system controls. The public website uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate usage insights. Providers may process information in countries other than your own. Your rights depend on your location; contact us to exercise applicable privacy rights.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and provide notice of material changes where appropriate. Questions are always welcome at support@storywithkido.com.
